A woman’s big gender reveal has gone viral after a smoke cannon surprise ended in confusion and chaos.
Mom to be Chloe Pauley from Cambridgeshire in the UK was celebrating the reveal at her house with close friends and family.
In a clip on TikTok (@mamabear2be), Pauley and her younger sister Maddi are each holding a smoke cannon, ready to set off one at a time.

“Everyone was so excited,” the 25-year-old told Newsweek. “Me and my family spent the whole day before setting up and making decorations.”
Pauley goes first, pulling the string to release a plume of blue smoke, but when Maddi does hers, pink confetti shoots out of the cannon.
“Everyone screamed as my sisters cannon went off…and I just remember my stepdad pointing at me going, ‘No, look’ and then that’s when my face dropped,” Pauley said.
The first thought that came to Pauley’s mind was how she was going to work out what she was actually having.
She didn’t know in advance, and it was her sister’s friend who ordered the gender reveal items from Esty.
The person who knew the gender wasn’t at the party but luckily Pauley had a framed scan picture from Window To The Womb – a private baby scan provider in the UK – that revealed the truth.
“We did a retake [and it was] confirmed girl,” she told Newsweek.
The TikTok clip has been viewed 1.8 million times and received over 50,000 comments on the platform.
Hundreds of other users commented, many of whom had their own gender mishap stories to share.
“Had mine yesterday and we got pink. It was supposed to be blue,” one user wrote.
Another shared that their gender reveal was all pink colors but a couple of months later, discovered they were having a boy.
“After naming ‘her’ and buying all pink stuff. Gotta [sic] laugh!”
Pauley, who is due on September 27, is taking the chaos in her stride but had a warning for other soon-to-be parents.
She captioned her clip: Don’t order your gender reveal items online, guys.
“I think it was just luck of the draw and unfortunately, I got the short straw,” she said. “They must sell loads of these, and I just so happened to have the wrong one!”
